I joined Racing Homes as a Housing Officer in February 2020 as a return to my housing profession. I’ve been mad about horses all my life, volunteering as a kid for rides at the local stables, owning my own ponies as a teenager and competing and having family in racing in Newmarket, a love of horses and housing – this is my perfect job. Watching the strings of horses go out on their morning exercise is the best drive to work I’ve ever had!
In my role as Housing Officer, I review applications for our accommodation, provide viewings and let homes to people who have dedicated their working lives to the Racing Industry. I monitor the properties by carrying out estate inspections, health and safety compliance, ordering maintenance works and managing tenancy issues.
I’ve experienced an interesting and varied housing career over the past 20+ years working in a number of roles in both regional and national housing associations providing services in general needs, retirement living with care services and up to a senior management level in supported housing for vulnerable people with different levels of complexity and support needs. My last strategic role as bid writer was to secure major contracts for the continuation of support services.
We are able to operate through the generosity and support of those who care
about the people who work to make our day at the races possible.
