Head of Communications and Marketing
Joining Racing Welfare in 2021 as Head of Communications and Marketing has given me the opportunity to combine three elements I am passionate about; the charity sector, communications and racing.
I have previously worked as Head of Communications for Prior’s Court – a charity providing 52 week residential care and education for young people with severe autism. Prior to that, I spent 9 years in communications at Macmillan Cancer Support, working closely with Services, Fundraising and campaigns teams across Central and South West England.
I’ve grown up riding ponies from a young age and have always been a regular racegoer. Closely following the sport gave me the bug for Thoroughbreds and when I came home from Uni I bought my first ex-racehorse. Since then, I’ve bought and retrained a number of ex-racehorses, which I’ve taken British Eventing, British Showjumping and tolerated the odd bit of dressage!
In a freelance capacity, I spent five years as a press officer for the Hickstead Derby and Royal Internal Horse Shows and have written feature stories and event reports for various online and print media. Highlights have included reporting from Badminton Horse Trials and interviewing the GBR eventing team ahead of the World Equestrian Games.
The support that Racing Welfare provides is unparalleled across other equestrian sports and is a huge and valuable asset to the industry. I’m proud to join an incredibly dedicated and knowledgeable team, where I can be a part of the charity’s continued growth so that we can provide even more vital support to racing’s workforce.
