Twenty Four Contestants Head to Heat Stages of the Furlong Factor

Following a bumper crop of entries to find racing’s singing superstars, the final 24 contenders have been selected to progress to the heat stages of Racing Welfare’s Furlong Factor.  All those who have made the heats remain in with a chance of winning the £1,500 cash prize and an all-expenses-paid trip to the Qatar Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe, courtesy of Racing Breaks.  The victor will also receive a beautiful Furlong Factor trophy, kindly donated by Inkerman London.

As part of our Covid-19 Emergency Appeal, we have come together with Great British Racing (GBR), the Tote, and Sky Sports Racing, in a fundraising initiative to find the industry’s very own pop idol through a brand new singing competition, The Furlong Factor.  The competition is free to enter and the winner will walk away with £1,500 in cash and, courtesy of Racing Breaks, an all-expenses-paid trip to the Qatar Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe.

Northern Stars Shine at Racing Welfare’s Racing Staff Boxing Night

Last night, 7th March, The William Hill Racing Staff Boxing Night saw 22 boxers from the racing communities of Middleham and Malton compete against each other in support of Racing Welfare.  Spectators from both of the racing centres turned out in droves to support their local stars, all of whom were fundraising for the charity as part of their involvement in the event. 

Christmas Comes Early at Presents Galore

This year’s Presents Galore was a landmark event in many ways. Having been run in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support for over 30 years, the three-day Christmas shopping extravaganza was for the first time raising funds for Racing Welfare and Palace House, Newmarket. Organised by Racing Welfare and bolstered by a new event committee, the 2019 renewal of Presents Galore saw more than 4000 shoppers flock to Newmarket’s Rowley Mile racecourse over the course of this weekend (22nd – 24th November).

Peace Prevails scoops Horse of the Year at Epsom Owners and Trainers Awards

The Jim Boyle-trained Peace Prevails was last night named as the Moss Electrical Epsom Horse of the Year at the 21st running of the glittering Owners and Trainers Awards at Epsom Downs racecourse, organised by Racing Welfare.   Owned by Epsom Equine Spa Partnerships and Mark Aljoe, the 4yo filly is sitting on a 42% strike rate for the season, notching up three wins from seven runs this year.  The win marked a double on the night for Jim Boyle, whose Inside Track Racing Club-owned Hataya took to the award in the four year old and over category – Best Older Horse – sponsored by the Racehorse Owners Association.

Racing fans of all ages enjoy a warm Yorkshire welcome at ARC Malton Open Day

The racing yards of Malton and Norton were flooded with visitors yesterday (15th September), with people taking their chance to visit some of the sport’s most historic training locations and meet the shining stars who reside within them.  Amongst the horses on show were John Quinn’s star filly Liberty Beach; Nigel Tinkler’s top performer Kaeso; the Group 3 winning Copper Beach (Tim Easterby), top class chaser Definitely Red (Brian Ellison), and the Richard Fahey trained Sands of Mali, who triumphed in the Group 1 QIPCO British Champions Sprint at Ascot last Autumn.
