MILLS RACING PARTNERS UP WITH RACING WELFARE

North-West based syndicate operation, Mills Racing, have become the latest organisation to join forces with Racing Welfare, lending their support to the industry’s human welfare charity.

The partnership will see Mills Racing supporting in a variety of ways, including sponsoring an on-course challenge at the charity’s Close House Golf Day on 31st August, as well as sponsoring an award at the ROA Northern Racing Awards in December.

On choosing to support Racing Welfare, syndicate manager Darren Mills said: “To partner with Racing Welfare was an easy decision and an important one. Helping the ecosystem which enables horse racing to exist and all the wonderful people involved is a privilege.”

The syndicate’s stable includes three horses:

Rapid Flight, previously owned and bred by Her Late Majesty The Queen, has won five times over fences since joining the ranks, including the prestigious Cavendish Cup Handicap Chase.

Mr Rumbalicious, a four-year-old gelding and son of Kodiac. He is already proven on the track, winning twice and placed twice on the flat from just eight starts.

Great Pepper, an athletic five-year-old gelding by the proven Grade 1-producing sire, Great Pretender. He has already proven himself to be a winner, with two victories from three starts on the Point-to-Point field. On both occasions, he displayed speed and stamina in tiring conditions.

Corporate supporters form a core part of Racing Welfare’s fundraising each year. Partnerships manager James Schofield said: “We’re very grateful to have the support of Mills Racing for the next year. Every penny raised and contributed through the partnership will help us continue to be there for racing’s people when they need us – the people who keep the show on the road behind the scenes and make our days at the races possible.”

ROA partnership yields more than £23,000 in 2022

Nine months after announcing a formalised partnership with Racing Welfare, the Racehorse Owners Association (ROA) and its members have contributed £23,125 in vital funds to the industry’s people welfare charity.

Across the course of the year, the partnership has seen ROA sponsor both the Epsom Owners’ and Trainers’ and Northern Racing Awards, donate auction prizes, support Racing Welfare’s events at Woburn and Doncaster – as well as holding a fundraiser at the ROA Horseracing Awards in London. In recognition of this growing partnership, Racing Welfare’s uniforms now incorporate the ROA logo.

Racing Welfare Chief Executive, Dawn Goodfellow said: “Our relationship with the ROA has gone from strength to strength during 2022. It was a very positive step for that relationship to be formalised earlier this year, and we are ever grateful for the support that the organisation and its members have extended to us. Their collaboration on profile-raising events and activities has undoubtedly enabled us to reach and ultimately help more people working in our sport.

“We look forward to continuing our partnership with the ROA into 2023, which looks to be an exciting albeit challenging year for Racing Welfare.”

ROA’s Chief Executive, Charlie Liverton said: “The ROA’s partnership symbolises the relationship that owners have not just with their horse, but as importantly, with those that look after, educate and prime their horses for the racecourse. The importance of racing staff is recognised by all of us at the ROA and by working closely with Racing Welfare we have been able to ensure that critical support and training is delivered across the UK, day in, day out. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Racing Welfare into 2023 and beyond.”

The ROA’s partnership with Racing Welfare continues into 2023 with the organisation supporting the Racing Welfare Aintree Lunch on Thursday 13th April. Find out more here: https://racingwelfare.co.uk/events-archive/racing-welfare-aintree-lunch-supported-by-the-roa/

Bedmax support Newmarket Heath Ride for third year

Racing Welfare is now accepting entries for the 2022 Bedmax Newmarket Heath Ride. The popular event takes place on Sunday 4 September and is sponsored for a third consecutive year by Bedmax, producers of shavings purpose made for horses, who have continued their commitment to racing in Newmarket and beyond.

The Bedmax Newmarket Heath Ride offers horse riders a unique opportunity to ride across world-famous turf – taking in the sights across the training grounds, whilst also raising money to support racing’s workforce. Thanks are extended to The National Stud and Jockey Club Estates for their support and kind permission.

Not only have Bedmax committed to headline sponsorship of this enjoyable event for a third year, the company’s support of Racing Welfare’s fundraising events also extends to Malton Open Day, held the following Sunday 11 September. Visitors to the North Yorkshire open stables event will be seated around the main arena on donated bales of Bedmax shavings.

Bedmax Managing Director, Tim Smalley, said: “Everyone who works with racehorses has a deep commitment to their welfare. We share the same commitment, so it’s a great pleasure to support these events and contribute something to the welfare of the people who care for these wonderful horses in Britain’s unique world class racing centres.”

Bedmax shavings are designed to combat the major equine health and wellbeing issues associated with stabled horses and, for horses to perform at the top of their game, the stable environment is of utmost importance. As well as being triple-dust-extracted and naturally antibacterial, Bedmax was also the first equine bedding company to be awarded BETA NOPS accreditation earlier this year which ensures that all products across their range are free of any naturally occurring prohibited substances.

Dawn Goodfellow, Racing Welfare Chief Executive, said: “We are so delighted to be partnering with Bedmax to deliver the Newmarket Heath Ride for a third year. Their support of Racing Welfare and the racing community is gratefully received. The Newmarket Heath Ride provides an amazing opportunity for riders to experience the thrill of riding on Newmarket’s hallowed training grounds, for which we extend huge thanks to the National Stud and Jockey Club Estates.”
