Challengers raise £100k for Racing Welfare in one weekend

A whole host of intrepid runners and riders undertook superhuman challenges over the last weekend, all with one common goal; to raise money for Racing Welfare.

On Tuesday 17 August, 26 cyclists set off on The Great Racing Welfare Cycle Challenge in association with Windsor Clive Limited – an epic journey from Carlisle Racecourse to Newton Abbot Racecourse, completing 500 miles over the course of five days. Meanwhile in London on Sunday, four runners donned their trainers to tackle the Vitality Big Half Marathon. Collectively between them, they have raised in excess of £100,000 for Racing Welfare – a phenomenal amount which could fund the annual cost of employing one of the charity’s four welfare teams.

3 Days left to get your entries in for Racing Welfare’s singing competition ‘The Furlong Factor’!

As part of our Covid-19 Emergency Appeal, we have come together with Great British Racing (GBR), the Tote, and Sky Sports Racing, in a fundraising initiative to find the industry’s very own pop idol through a brand new singing competition, The Furlong Factor.  The competition is free to enter and the winner will walk away with £1,500 in cash and, courtesy of Racing Breaks, an all-expenses-paid trip to the Qatar Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe.

#TeamRacingWelfare prepare for Ride London

16 riders are preparing themselves for the annual 100 mile bike ride through London and Surrey

After our recent heatwave, our riders will be glad of a bit of cooler weather as on Sunday they will take on Prudential RideLondon. The event takes in a 100 mile course that will see 25,000 amateur cyclists tackle a challenge like no other. Making its way through London and Surrey, the route charts a similar course to that of the London 2012 Olympic road cycling races.

Virgin Money London Marathon Preview: “I wouldn’t be living the life I am today if I didn’t have their backing and support”

Maria’s Great South Run Challenge

Racing Welfare beneficiary Maria Doe will be taking on the 10 mile Great South Run this Sunday, 15 months after suffering a serious spinal injury.

Maria, who has worked for leading trainer Sir Michael Stoute for 19 years, was injured last year when the horse she was riding slipped and fell on top of her.  She underwent surgery to stabilise her crushed vertebrae and had two metal rods inserted down side of her spine.
