Be part of The Clocktower Cup at Doncaster and sponsor a race on Friday 1st July. The Clocktower Cup provides the opportunity for 12 stable staff to compete at Doncaster, a once in a lifetime opportunity for many, all whilst raising funds for Racing Welfare.

This year sees the sixth running of Racing Staff Week. Once again, the week will bring the racing industry and its followers together to showcase the passion, skill and dedication of all the staff, across the breadth of the industry, whose hard work makes our great sport possible. This year’s Racing Staff Week will recognise the contribution of the industry’s entire workforce, from stud and stable staff to breeders, racecourse staff and administrators and everything in between.

The feature of Racing Staff Week has always been the Clock Tower Cup Race day at the fantastic setting of Doncaster Racecourse. We are delighted to be able to offer a select few sponsors the chance to become part of the day through race sponsorship on what is a much anticipated date in Racing Welfare’s calendar. Racing Staff Week will be promoted to stakeholders and employees right across the industry with online and in person events and activities which all help to increase the focus on Doncaster on the final day of Racing Staff Week – the eyes of the industry are turned towards Doncaster as stable staff have the opportunity to take part in the Clock Tower Cup as part of the main card on the day and you have a chance to be part of it.

Racing Staff Week 2021 is Here

Today (Saturday 16th October) sees the launch of Racing Staff Week at Ascot’s Champions Day meeting.  Now in its fifth year, Racing Staff Week recognises the contribution of the industry’s entire workforce, from stud and stable staff to breeders, racecourse staff and administrators and everything in between and is once again generously supported by Betfair.

Racing Welfare, who are the driving force behind Racing Staff Week, aim for the week to bring the racing industry and its followers together to showcase the passion, skill and dedication of all the staff across the breadth of the industry, whose hard work makes our great sport possible.

Racing Welfare brings you the people behind the Investec Epsom Derby

We are very excited to be today launching a mini series profiling some of the people working behind the scenes to make this year’s Investec Derby happen.

All roads lead to Epsom Downs Racecourse this Saturday for the world’s greatest flat race, The Derby. In order to mark what would have been Racing Staff Week, we have brought together a series of films to introduce you to some of the people who have been working incredibly hard to bring this year’s Derby to life.

Ella Jayne Smith Announced as Second Winner of Racing Welfare Best Turned Out Series

Ella Jayne Smith today (13th June) won the second leg of Racing Welfare’s Best Turned Out series with her charge Man Of The Night, who is trained by Richard Hannon and owned by Saeed Manana. Sponsored by Betfair, the second leg of the initiative saw Racing Welfare award the BTO prize in the ‘It’s Not Rocket Science With MansionBet Handicap’ this afternoon.

As well as accompanying Man Of The Night to the races, Ella has looked after him since he arrived at the Everleigh base as a yearling and is his regular partner on the gallops each morning.

Jess Burley is First Winner of Racing Welfare’s Best Turned Out

Jess Burley today (6th June) won the  first weekend of Racing Welfare’s Best Turned Out series with her charge Judicial, who is trained Julie Camacho and owned by the Elite Racing Club.  Sponsored by Betfair, the initiative saw the charity award the BTO prize in the Group 3 Palace House Stakes at Newmarket this afternoon following a public vote via Racing Welfare’s website to decide the winner.  A graduate of the National Horseracing College, Jess has been travelling to the races with Judicial for the last five years. 

Racing Welfare’s Best Turned Out aims to champion the skill of racing staff in readying their horses to run by offering each yard the opportunity share a video clip of their horse’s regime ahead of the race.  A fabulous selection of videos were received, providing some great behind the scenes accounts of each horse’s preparation and character. 

Racing Staff Week Charity Race Riders take to the track

This year will see the fifth renewal of the Betfair Clock Tower Cup, running over seven furlongs at Doncaster Racecourse on Friday 5th July.  As in previous years, the race has attracted a maximum entry of 12 stable staff riders, all of whom have been nominated to ride by their respective trainers.

Betfair to Support Racing Staff Week for Third Year

Racing Welfare is delighted to announce that Betfair will support Racing Staff Week for the third year. Racing Welfare’s most extensive PR and fundraising campaign of the year takes place from Saturday 30th June to Saturday 7th July this year and will once more celebrate and raise awareness about the dedicated people who work behind the scenes in the British racing industry.
