Racing Staff Week Charity Race Riders take to the track

This year will see the fifth renewal of the Betfair Clock Tower Cup, running over seven furlongs at Doncaster Racecourse on Friday 5th July.  As in previous years, the race has attracted a maximum entry of 12 stable staff riders, all of whom have been nominated to ride by their respective trainers.

Last chance to sign up for Racing Staff Week ROA BBQs

Applications close tomorrow, Friday 7th June, for the ROA-sponsored yard barbecues in honour of Racing Staff Week 2019.

For a third consecutive year, the Racehorse Owners Association (ROA) is generously sponsoring 25 yard barbecue events in a bid to encourage trainers to bring their owners and teams of staff together in celebration of Racing Staff Week. Each successful applicant will receive a special ROA-branded bbq pack, including a £150 food voucher to put towards the cost of the event.

Virgin Money London Marathon Preview: “I wouldn’t be living the life I am today if I didn’t have their backing and support” 

Racing Welfare will field a thirteen-strong team of runners this coming Sunday 28th April for the Virgin Money London Marathon, all of whom will pound the iconic 26.2 miles of tarmac around the streets of the capital in aid of the charity.

Runners take on The Vitality Big Half

Racing Welfare is thrilled to have two enthusiastic runners taking on The Vitality Big Half for us on 10th March. In its second year, the event will see over 20,000 people including Sir Mo Farah race from Tower Bridge to Greenwich park.

Maria’s Great South Run Challenge

Racing Welfare beneficiary Maria Doe will be taking on the 10 mile Great South Run this Sunday, 15 months after suffering a serious spinal injury.

Maria, who has worked for leading trainer Sir Michael Stoute for 19 years, was injured last year when the horse she was riding slipped and fell on top of her.  She underwent surgery to stabilise her crushed vertebrae and had two metal rods inserted down side of her spine.

Racing Welfare runners set to line up for the Great North Run 2018

Racing Welfare is delighted to have three very special individuals taking on the Simply Health Great North Run on Sunday 9th September.  The event will see 57,000 competitors cross the start line of the 13.1 mile course around Newcastle, raising millions of pounds for charity in the process.

The Simply Health Great North Run is one of the greatest footraces in the world and we are very happy to have three runners fundraising for Racing Welfare this year.   Those taking on the challenge this year are Rachel Cawley, Joe Jefferson and James Ambrose.

The Creditas ‘Taking Care of Business’ Stable Staff Stakes

Here at Racing Welfare we are not ready to give up the euphoria of another successful Racing Staff Week. Luckily we don’t have to just yet. Thirsk Racecourse are kindly hosting The Creditas ‘Taking Care of Business’ Stable Staff Stakes race to raise funds for Racing Welfare.

Racing Staff Boxing is back and William Hill are backing it!

Racing Welfare is delighted to announce that William Hill are to sponsor the Racing Staff Boxing Night – to be held at Goffs’ Doncaster Sales Complex on Saturday 17th March 2018.

The William Hill Racing Staff Boxing Night will be organised by, and raise funds for, Racing Welfare. Derby based Ultra White Collar Boxing will manage the life-changing 8-week training programme that participants will be required to undertake, applying strict medical and safety regulations throughout the process and on the night itself.
