Middleham Open Day set to raise funds for Hill House Appeal

This year’s ARC Middleham Open Day will help to raise funds for Racing Welfare’s Hill House Appeal, with the completed project set to provide accommodation for young people starting out in their careers within the local racing community.

The site of the current Hill House in Middleham has been purchased by Racing Welfare in a bid to help to address the need for quality, affordable housing for young racing staff in the area.  The Hill House Appeal will be launched association with the Jessica Bethell Charitable Foundation during the week in April that also features the ARC-sponsored Middleham Open Day.  The appeal will seek to raise the £2million required to complete the project.  Subject to planning consent and building and fire regulations approval, the development will incorporate 12 units of accommodation for young people aged 16-24 years old, in addition to offices for the charity’s regional welfare team, a gym and community space.

Landmark partnership secured between Racing Welfare and The Racing Foundation

A historic partnership has been agreed between Racing Welfare and The Racing Foundation, securing funding for some of the charity’s key services over next three years.

The agreement, which comes into effect in January 2019, will see The Racing Foundation award £3.89 million to Racing Welfare over the next three years, reflecting the charity’s position as the UK’s core provider of human welfare services for everyone living and working in the horseracing and Thoroughbred breeding industries.  The funding has been allocated to the Wellbeing Strand of Racing Welfare’s service provision, covering four key aspects: Racing’s Occupational Health Service, the Careers Advice and Training Service (CATS), Racing’s Support Line and the development of the charity’s mental health services going forwards.
