Volunteering makes the work Racing Welfare do possible

Racing Welfare exists to help anyone who works in the British horseracing and breeding industry who is looking for support, regardless of their occupation.

Fortunately, not everyone will need our help, but by volunteering this enables us to deliver support throughout the UK and make a real difference to people’s lives. Volunteers like you are vital in helping us achieve this, either through work directly in support of beneficiaries or through raising the funds needed to continue to provide the services that we offer. We very much welcome new volunteers in all sorts of roles to help us carry on providing support to those who need us. We would be delighted if you would like to join our Volunteer Programme.

Looking to help during the Covid-19 pandemic?

As a charity, we are extremely grateful to all those who volunteer with us. During this difficult time, volunteers will become more important than ever and we welcome all offers of help from the community.

Internally, a Community Project Group is in place to develop ways in which we can continue to provide our usual community support within the confines associated with social distancing. Should you register below, a member of this group will be in touch when we know exactly what we might be offering and to discuss how your skills might be best used.
You might also like to look at the following volunteering schemes seeking help now:

NHS Volunteer Responders
The Befriending Network
NCVO- How you can help

Whilst we work on these plans, please also take the opportunity to look at our existing schemes, such as Friends of Racing Welfare, which are vital to funding our work and may be of interest to people you know who wish to support our work but can’t offer their time.

Want to get involved?

Newmarket Heath Ride

The Newmarket Heath Ride is an annual event held with the kind permission of The Jockey Club Estates and The National Stud. It gives local pleasure riders the unique opportunity to ride on the famous Newmarket Heath and take in the town from horseback.

We need volunteers to help steward the event along different points of the course.

Volunteers are needed between 9am and 4pm for at least 3 hours.

Lunch is provided for all volunteers supporting us all day.

We would be delighted to have your help at one of the above events or at an event in the future. By signing up below, you can opt into hearing about our upcoming opportunities first straight to your email inbox.
