Congratulations to our fantastic team of runners that completed this year’s AJ Bell Great North Run. The determined group of nine, headed by our own Chief Executive, Dawn Goodfellow, and her husband Mike, lined up alongside 60,000 other dedicated runners to take on one of the world’s biggest half marathons.
Despite the unprecedented warm weather for the time of year, all nine completed the 13-mile route from Newcastle to South Shields, with Malton’s Ollie Varey topping the Racing Welfare leaderboard finishing in an impressive 1hour 39minutes.
Dawn said: “What an absolutely amazing day it has been. To all of you who have sponsored us and messaged and texted your support and congratulations thank you so much. To every person that turned out on the entire route cheering, giving out sweets, ice pops and drinks or playing in bands a heartfelt thank you – you will never know the difference you made!
“Congratulations and thank you to all our fellow runners. We hoped you’ve enjoyed the experience as we have, and your fundraising efforts for Racing Welfare are most appreciated.”
Together the runners have raised over £11,500 for Racing Welfare, with donations still coming in. If you’d like to show your support you can visit any of their fundraising pages below.
