Celebrity Golf Day to provide vital funds for Racing Welfare and the Injured Jockey’s Fund

Racing Welfare and the Injured Jockey’s Fund have teamed up to create a spectacular star-studded event which is set to provide vital funds for the two charities – their first ever joint event.

The Celebrity Golf Day on 21st July will serve as a key fundraiser helping to celebrate Racing Welfare’s 21st birthday, to be held at the iconic Woburn Golf Club by kind permission of the Duke of Bedford.

29 teams of three will battle it out over 18 holes for the overall honours, each joined by a sporting celebrity to complete the four-ball. The event – which will be covered by exclusive media partner Sky Sports Racing – boasts a wealth of sporting stars including AP McCoy, James Anderson, Kriss Akabusi, Mick Fitzgerald and John Francome

Racehorse Owners are also being encouraged to get involved, with a unique opportunity to see golf buggies and holes on the course branded up with their own racing colours. Owners can ensure their colours secure pride of place by bidding via an online auction here: https://www.jumblebee.co.uk/ijfvsracingwelfaregolfdayauction

The event has been organised in conjunction with Johnno Spence Communications, and attracted support from a number of sponsors. The headline sponsor of the day is Whitley Neill Gin – the UK’s number 1 premium gin, owned by Halewood Artisanal Spirits. John Bradbury, UK Managing Director of Halewood Artisanal Spirits said; “The Golf Day is a fantastic opportunity for us to support two really important charities and we’re delighted to be involved. We’re excited to be fielding two of our own teams and hoping they can make their mark on the competition but, more importantly, we hope that the event will be a hugely successful fundraiser for Racing Welfare and Injured Jockey’s Fund. Whitley Neill Gin is a proud sponsor and looks forward to being part of the day.”

In addition to the overall prizes for teams and individuals, a generous prize fund of £50,000 is up for grabs for a hole in one thanks to sponsorship from The Racehorse Owners Association.

Special thanks also go to Longest Drive Sponsor Parkers Branded, and Apparel Partner Snowfinel.

Both Racing Welfare and the Injured Jockey’s Fund would like to extend their thanks to all those involved in making this day possible. Through the generous support of The Duke of Bedford, event sponsors, partners, organisers and racehorse owners, the Celebrity Golf Day will help to provide crucial support to jockeys and anyone working in or retired from racing.
