William Hill Racing Staff Boxing Night 2018

On 17th March, 26 racing staff entered the ring to battle it out to raise money for Racing Welfare. Sponsored by William Hill, the black tie event was held at Goffs UK in Doncaster.

The stands soon filled up with spectators ready to show their support. After 8 weeks of gruelling training with UWCB local professional boxing coaches at Henry’s gym York and Ripon Boxing Club the boxers are probably at their fittest yet.

One of the boxers Sherri Wade said

I’m thrilled to hear we have all helped raise so much money for Racing Welfare. It was the event of a lifetime and I do not say that lightly. I think we are all feeling a huge sense of achievement, win or not and it is an experience we will all carry with us for a long time.

Half way through the evening took place an auction which included lots such as ‘gold dust’ tickets Anthony Joshua V Joseph Parker and Lord Daresbury Roof tickets to the Randox Grand National. The auction raised £2,000 which goes to Racing Welfare so that we can continue to provide support to racing’s staff.

We still have donations from supporters coming in but at the last count the net income for the event was £14,000.

Racing Welfare would like to give thanks and congratulate everyone that took part in the boxing event and raised money for us.
