Top Racing Names Set for Racing to Cricket 2026 in Aid of Racing Welfare
Racing to Cricket returns to the spectacular Wormsley estate in Buckinghamshire on Sunday 6th September 2026, with this year’s event raising funds for Racing Welfare for the first time.
Racing to Cricket has become a much-anticipated fixture in the racing calendar, bringing together leading names from across the sport for a unique combination of competitive cricket, exceptional hospitality and fundraising. Established in 2017 by racing syndicates manager David Sumpter, the event has already raised more than £330,000 for racing charities.

Events like this not only raise essential funds, but also celebrate the camaraderie and generosity that make our sport so special.”
Set against the backdrop of Wormsley’s world-renowned private cricket ground, funds raised from the 2026 event will support Racing Welfare’s vital work providing professional guidance and practical care to the people at the heart of British horseracing—from stud and stable staff to racecourse personnel and their families.
Leading Racing Names Compete for the Racing to Cricket Trophy
The centrepiece of the day is an exciting 8-a-side knockout cricket tournament for the Racing to Cricket Trophy, featuring a mix of returning teams and new contenders. Known for its competitive yet good-natured atmosphere, the tournament brings together trainers, owners, and racing supporters away from the track. Competing teams include Nicky Henderson’s Seven Barrows, Willy Twiston-Davies, Tattersalls, Weatherbys Racing Bank, newcomers D J Jefferies, and a joint team from Toby Lawes and Tom Ward.
A Unique Day of Sport, Hospitality and Fundraising
Guests will enjoy hospitality from the Boundary Room marquee overlooking the ground, beginning with a champagne reception, followed by a seasonal buffet lunch with fine wines and a traditional afternoon cricket tea.
The fundraising programme will once again feature a live auction offering exceptional racing, sporting and lifestyle experiences. Among the first lots confirmed is a coveted nomination to multiple Group 1-winning stallion Golden Horn, generously donated by Jayne McGivern of Dash Grange Stud.
Hospitality packages are available, including tables of 10 (£2,000), tables of 8 (£1,650) and individual tickets (£215). A limited number of sponsorship opportunities and auction contribution opportunities remain available.
