Tickets on Sale for ARC Malton Open Day – Sunday 7th September 2025

Racing Welfare’s annual ARC Malton Open Day returns on Sunday 7th September 2025, offering racing fans and the wider community a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes at one of the UK’s most prominent racing centres.

The annual event, kindly sponsored by Arena Racing Company (ARC), gives visitors exclusive access to some of the region’s top training yards, equine facilities, and the chance to meet the people and horses who make the sport of racing possible.

From 8:45am until 12:00pm, 11 of Malton’s leading trainers will be opening their doors, welcoming visitors to see their yards in action, allowing attendees to gain rare insights into the daily routines of both the horses and stable staff.

Among those opening is Tim Easterby’s Habton Farm Stables. Tim has taken the title of top flat trainer in Yorkshire on 10 occasions and is currently leading the table with over 50 wins already this season. If you’re visiting, you can meet multiple Group winning grey Art Power, who has amassed over £500,000 in prize money, as well as exciting two-year-old Revival Power who is fresh from a win in a Listed race at York’s Sky Bet Ebor Festival. Don’t miss old favourite Copper Knight who has won 17 times in his career and is the winning most horse at York Racecourse.

Also opening are Craig Lidster, Richard Fahey who has trained over 70 individual Group and Listed winners, Suzzanne France, Adrian Keatley, Ollie Pears, John Wainwright, Sara Ender, Britain’s oldest and longest-serving active racehorse trainer, Mick Easterby and son David, Ivan Furtado who moved to Eboracum Racing Stables in 2025, and Mike Sowersby.

Attendees are encouraged to take advantage of a discounted combined ticket offering, which enables them to visit the yards in the morning and then enjoy an afternoon of racing at York Racecourse’s Sky Bet Sunday Series, in association with YorkMix Family Entertainment Zone.

Funds raised on the day will go directly to organisers Racing Welfare, the charity that provides professional guidance and practical support to racing’s workforce, from those at the start of their careers right the way through to those in retirement. That includes a dedicated team of welfare officers based within the town, who provide support to the racing community locally and across the region.

Speaking of how Racing Welfare’s services have helped his team, William Derby, Chief Executive at York Racecourse said: “Racing Welfare have offered a range of services to the team at York, from assisting with physiotherapy, rehabilitation and other physical ailments, to practical support as well as support during bereavement and in difficult times.  The range and breadth of Racing Welfare’s support is much valued and appreciated by all who work at York, both permanent and raceday teams.”

The combined ticket offering for Malton Open Day and York is part of an ongoing partnership between York Racecourse and Racing Welfare. Since 2014, York has provided more than £200,000 in generous donations to the charity, and regularly hosts Racing Welfare initiatives such as festive lunches for retired beneficiaries, special race day outings, and hospitality events which help to combat loneliness and keep former racing staff connected to the sport they love.

Dawn Goodfellow, Chief Executive of Racing Welfare, said: “The ARC Malton Open Day is always a highlight of the year, celebrating the region’s rich racing heritage and giving the public a unique insight into the sport we all love. We are immensely grateful to ARC, the trainers, York Racecourse and everyone in the local community who make this day possible. Every ticket sold helps Racing Welfare to continue providing vital support to racing’s people, whenever they need it.”

Tickets for Malton Open Day are priced at just £10, or £20 for a combined ticket to York Racecourse, while children under 18 can attend for free. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased in advance at www.maltonopenday.co.uk
