Regional Welfare Manager
I am the Regional Welfare Manager based in the Lambourn office and covering the South area.
I grew up in Lambourn and have always been surrounded by the people and horses of the racing industry.
I began my career with the charity as a volunteer because I wanted to give my time to the charity that was supporting people at the heart of my community. I was then lucky enough to be offered a part time job and it has grown from there.
I like working for Racing Welfare because it is easy to see the positive difference you can make to people. When you tell them there is something you can do to help and see the weight visibly lift from their shoulders it makes it all worthwhile and is a huge reward. The role of a welfare officer is very varied so each day is different. I could be helping someone following an accident one day and then taking a group of retired staff to the races the next. It is also really nice to interact with such a wide variety of people and hear their stories, particularly the retired staff who have so many interesting memories.
