I started riding horses at a young age competing in county level showing. My first job in racing was working for Northern National Hunt Trainer Donald McCain before deciding to move down south to work for Six times Champion National Hunt Trainer Nicky Henderson. When I arrived at Nicky Henderson’s in 2014, I was extremely lucky to look after and go on to work ride a young Buveur D’Air and William Henry, it was a racing fans dream. I enjoyed massive successes with both horses including three Cheltenham Festival wins.
My last few years at Nicky Henderson’s were spent as a Pupil Assistant. In this role I worked closely with the team and gained an excellent understanding of the vital work that the racing workforce do.
I feel very fortunate for the opportunity to work as a Welfare Officer for Racing Welfare, and to give back to an industry that has given me so much.
