Project Lead - Industry Mental Health & Wellbeing
My role is split and operates across both the Welfare and Fundraising departments, I am very fortunate to be able to work alongside our Welfare Team and experience the fantastic work we do first hand. I am in charge of managing and developing our portfolio of Trusts and Foundations, by maintaining good relationships with our funders, of whom usually have a profound interest in the industry itself. The second part of my role is to manage the way we measure our social impact, something that has become increasingly important in the charitable sector. I hugely enjoy getting to know our beneficiaries and hearing their racing stories, which really makes all that we do so worthwhile.
For 10 years I worked for Dainton Equine, a small family run rehabilitation, respite and retraining yard for racehorses. Situated in South Devon, this is really what cemented my interest in horseracing and my love of National Hunt. It also happens to be the home of my ginger ninja ex racehorse Euro Import. In 2015, following graduation from university I was accepted onto the BHA Graduate Programme. I feel extremely lucky to have been a part of such a great programme which has benefitted racing for more than 25 years. I relished the challenge of my placement at Racing Welfare and feel privileged to be a part of a cracking team. Horseracing is a really unique industry and has so far provided me with the most wonderful opportunities.
