As the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic continues to affect so many of us, we understand that many people will be impacted financially as a result of having to self-isolate. As such, we are pleased to announce the launch of our Self-Isolation Grants which will be available to anyone in the racing industry whose ability to work has been affected as a result of being advised to self-isolate in line with the new legal duty on all UK residents who test positive for COVID-19 or are identified by the NHS Test and Trace system.
The grants are kindly being funded by the John Pearce Foundation and The Racing Foundation, utilising Racing Welfare’s infrastructure and grant making expertise to distribute the funds. The Self-Isolation Grants, which will be awarded at a standard £500 per person, aim to ease the financial burden on those whose regular income has been negatively affected by having to self-isolate.
Applications for Self-Isolation Grants are now open and payment can be awarded to anyone required to self-isolate from the 28th September 2020. The grants are available to anyone currently employed in the racing and thoroughbred breeding industry who is facing financial hardship as a result of being advised to self-isolate following:
- A positive test for Covid-19
- Contact from NHS Test and Trace advising you to self-isolate
- Receiving an NHS isolation note
- Being advised to self-isolate by your employer or another medical health care professional
