Racing Welfare has announced that Colliers’ Business Rates Team will sponsor its annual charity golf day, taking place on 12 May 2026 at Woburn Golf Club.
The sponsorship marks the start of a new partnership between the two organisations, with Colliers’ support helping Racing Welfare provide vital assistance to the workforce behind British horseracing and thoroughbred breeding in times of need.
Colliers’ Business Rates Team, led by John Webber, advises corporate clients across the UK on valuations, appeals and rates management. The team has worked in the sector for over 65 years and has a long-standing presence in horseracing, acting for numerous racecourses in England and Scotland. In 2025, it was appointed rating advisor to both the Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association and the National Trainers’ Federation.
John Webber, Head of Business Rates at Colliers, said: “Business rates are an increasing burden for many in the sector, and the 2026 revaluation which came into force on 1 April will prove costly for a significant number of racing businesses. Financial pressure is a very real challenge for the workforce in this industry, which is exactly why we are proud to support Racing Welfare. It plays a much-needed role, and we are pleased to back this golf day and help generate further funds for the charity.”
John added “Horseracing is an important contributor to the UK economy, and we are proud of our role within the industry. Supporting Racing Welfare is one way we can continue to give back.”
Dawn Goodfellow, Chief Executive of Racing Welfare, said: “We are delighted to welcome Colliers’ Business Rates Team as a new supporter. They understand the pressures that racing businesses and the workforce within them are facing, and that shared understanding makes this partnership particularly meaningful. Their support of the Woburn Golf Day will make a genuine difference to the people who rely on us.”
The Woburn Golf Day takes place on 12 May 2026, with funds raised supporting Racing Welfare’s work across British horseracing. Teams interested in supporting the event can find out more by contacting Racing Welfare.
