Today, Thursday 27th August, sees bidding open in The Great Racing Welfare Auction. With close to 100 amazing lots on offer, the event is being hosted virtually and will raise much needed funds for the charity’s Covid-19 Emergency Appeal. Bidding will run until 24th September when the auction will close.
The Great Racing Welfare auction has been supported with generous donations from across the racing industry and beyond and there is something on offer for everyone. Amongst the standout ‘money can’t buy’ lots is a chance for three people to enjoy 18 holes of golf at Sunningdale with the great AP McCoy, a riding lesson with equestrian legend Sir Mark Todd and a fitness session with marathon world record holder Susannah Gill.
Other first-class auction lots include a special commission from renowned artist Tania Still and mornings on the gallops and stable tours with some of the country’s top trainers. There are also holidays, ownership shares and the chance for two people to join master caller Mike Cattermole in the commentary box along with a wide variety of other fabulous lots.
