Racing Welfare is offering Fuel Grants to those who currently work in the thoroughbred racing and breeding industries.
This grant is specifically aimed at meeting increased fuel costs for those living on or below the Minimum Income Standard. If you are unsure if you might qualify, our team will offer help with this and also help to claim any other statutory entitlements.
Covid-19 has drastically changed our lifestyles and the way we live and work. Acknowledging these difficult times can cause stress, anxiety, sadness and fear in many people. Many of us face financial pressures with lower incomes and no time scale of when they could return.
Racing Welfare are working hard to support everyone in racing and to help minimise the impact of Covid-19. There are benefits you may be entitled to if you’re unemployed, have been made redundant, are off work due to sickness, or on a low income. You could be eligible for universal credit, a means-tested benefit to help you meet your basic living costs.
You could work for an employer, be self-employed, have been recently furloughed or made redundant, or have had a reduction in wages, and still apply. (Warning – Claiming Universal Credit may mean you lose other benefits you currently receive, such as Tax Credits). Seek advice before you apply.
Here is a comprehensive online benefits calculator and grant checker from financial support charity TURN2US to help you and don’t hesitate to contact us if you need further support.
If you work in horseracing and you have been affected financially by COVID-19, it can be a particularly anxious and upsetting time. We can provide you with 24 hour support and give you the guidance you need.
Racing Welfare’s 24 hour support line enables people to access support and
guidance through digital and telephone options.
