Furlong Factor winner Lara Telfer releases album in aid of Racing Welfare and Mind

Fresh from her win in Racing Welfare’s Furlong Factor in May 2020, Lara Telfer has released her debut album ‘Reined In’ with all profits going to Racing Welfare & MIND.

With backing and support from Cheltenham Racecourse, where Lara has been a member of the marketing team for seven years, she agreed to enter the competition and stunned her friends, family and wider racing community with her vocal performance with her first round video reaching almost 45,000 views on Twitter alone.

A former National Point-to-Point Novice Ladies’ Champion Jockey, Lara has grown up in the racing industry and kept her stunning vocals hidden to most. Now, with a convincing win under her hat and a few celebrity fans gained in the process, Lara wants to give something back to the charity that gave her the chance to shine with her debut album. Since lockdown restrictions have eased, Lara has been busy in the Yellow Shark studio creating her ten song album which can be streamed online or purchased on iTunes.

I cannot thank Racing Welfare and all the people who voted for me enough, I hope by singing this album I can repay that amazing experience in some way. All profits from sales of ‘Reined In’, will be split equally between my two chosen charities, Racing Welfare and Mind. It’s an honour to be able to support them

Lara received some fantastic support throughout the competition including from ITV Racing presenter Oli Bell who shared his support on Twitter throughout the competition tweeting:

They’re all brilliant but someone needs to give Lara Telfer a record deal.

Former reality TV star and now member of the ITV Racing team, Chris Hughes, echoed those thoughts by sharing the video with his 509.9K twitter followers with the caption:

Love this girl. She deserves to win, get voting today for Lara Telfer!

The Furlong Factor was the brainchild of Gemma Waterhouse, our Chief Operating Officer. In response to the news, she said:

We are thrilled that Lara has recorded an album off the back of her Furlong Factor win.  She is an incredible talent and, along with our other fantastic finalists, brought a smile to the faces of so many during a really difficult period earlier this year.  Thank you so much to Lara and the team at Cheltenham Racecourse for supporting Racing Welfare through sales of the album.
