Our top priority at Racing Welfare is the wellbeing of all of racing’s people and we are closely monitoring the public health situation as it develops, aligning our approach with Government advice.
Delivery of services
Racing Welfare’s services remain available, however, other than in the most essential cases, our support will be delivered over the phone or online as of today. We will also be restricting travel to essential cases only and sadly have had to cancel our community coffee mornings.
Regional office closures
In order to continue deliver our services and prioritise those who need us most, our regional offices in Middleham, Malton, Lambourn and Newmarket (both at The Racing Centre and Park Lane) will be closed to the public with immediate effect.

Commenting on the measures, Dawn Goodfellow, Chief Executive of Racing Welfare said: “Following the updated guidelines issued by the Government yesterday regarding the Coronavirus outbreak, and in order to ensure that we are able to continue to deliver our services and do all that we can to restrict the spread of the virus, we have taken the decision to close our regional offices in Lambourn, Malton, Middleham and Newmarket. Racing Welfare’s services remain available to all of racing’s people with our welfare team still contactable over the phone and 24hrs via Racing’s Support Line on 0800 6300 443.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will be following Government advice regarding plans for our fundraising events over the coming weeks and months also. Regrettably, we have been forced to postpone the upcoming Middleham Open Day in addition to our fundraising lunch at Aintree which has been cancelled as a result of the fall of the Grand National Festival. Further updates on our events will be issued in due course as the situation develops.”
