Racing staff box clever for Racing Welfare

A stellar cast of racing staff hailing from the north went toe-to-toe on 20 November at York racecourse for the William Hill Racing Staff Boxing night, providing a superb evening of entertainment with the aim of raising vital funds for organisers Racing Welfare.

Each competitor undertook eight weeks of intensive training delivered by Ultra White Collar Boxing, culminating in ten fiercely competitive fights with many competitors’ friends, family, employers and colleagues attending to show their support.

Match-Ups Announced for William Hill Stable Staff Boxing!

Racing Welfare has announced the match-ups for its William Hill Racing Staff Boxing Night at a special event, held on Monday night, at Manhatta in York.

The boxing night itself takes place at York Racecourse this Saturday 20th November and features a stellar cast hailing from the northern racing community.

Sponsored by William Hill, the boxing night will see 20 competitors from the racing industry pit their fighting prowess against each other, following eight weeks of intensive training delivered by Ultra White Collar Boxing.  The list of boxers includes racing grooms, stud staff, racecourse employees and jockeys, all of whom are raising money for Racing Welfare as part of their participation.

 

QIPCO British Champions Day Virtual Preview Evening in Aid of Racing Welfare

To celebrate the 10th edition of QIPCO British Champions Day and to preview the world-class action set to take place on the track, QIPCO are holding a virtual preview evening live on their Facebook page from 7 – 8pm on Thursday 15th October.  Sponsored by QIPCO and the Tote, the evening is aiming to raise much needed funds for Racing Welfare.  All viewers will be encouraged to make a voluntary donation of £5 towards our  Covid-19 emergency appeal.

Fantastic Response to Virtual Yorkshire Open Day

All of us here at Racing Welfare would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in the Virtual Yorkshire Open Day on Sunday.  The day was a huge success and there was some fabulous content on offer. 24 trainers from across Yorkshire opened their doors via YouTube giving viewers exclusive behind-the-scenes access. Audiences at home also had the chance to get an insight into what makes racing in Yorkshire so special with some familiar faces and organisations providing some really informative and fun videos.

Fantastic fun had by all at Racing Welfare’s Newmarket Heath Ride

182 riders were greeted by glorious sunshine at Racing Welfare’s Sponsored Newmarket Heath Ride last Sunday, 6th September.  The ride was the charity’s first in-person fundraising fixture since the cancellation of its usual calendar of events due to the pandemic and provided the participants with a unique opportunity to ride over Newmarket’s famous training grounds.

Ultimate Grand National Package amongst the lots to the Great Racing Welfare Auction

Some incredible new items and experiences have been added to The Great Racing Welfare Auction to take the total number of fantastic lots on offer to over 100. The auction is being hosted virtually with all proceeds going towards the charity’s Covid-19 Emergency Appeal.  Bidding is open until 8pm on Thursday 24th September and the total raised has already exceeded the £20,000 mark.
