The Middleham Key Centre February 2009
Racing Welfare is the leading charity for all those who are working, or have worked, in the horse racing industry and their dependants. This includes stud and stable staff, trainers, jockeys, racecourse employees, farriers and stalls handlers.
“Racing Welfare’s aim is to see everyone who works in the racing industry to be adequately supported so that they have every opportunity to build lives full of purpose and promise” said Cedric Burton OBE Chief Executive of Racing Welfare, “We at Racing Welfare are delighted to support this important initiative at The Key Centre and we hope that it will assist us in continuing our efforts to be in the vanguard of enabling the provision of training and educational opportunities for all stable staff”. Racing Welfare together with the National Trainers Federation Charitable Trust has been responsible for funding a number of educational projects for stable staff across the country including a recent annual grant to the Northern Racing College in Doncaster of £12,000 to provide a Life Skills Development Course.
Amanda Donkin, Racing Welfare’s Middleham based welfare officer, is enthusiastic about the Key Centre initiative; “Here in Middleham we are at least 20 miles away from the nearest further education college, all that has changed now thanks to the Key Centre, it is great news for all stable staff in this part of Yorkshire who are looking to study a wide range of subjects and topics, anyone who wants to speak to me about the Key Centre or just a general chat should give me a call on 01969 624123 or go on line to www.racingwelfare.co.uk. ”.
