Each flat consists of a bedroom(s), sitting room, kitchen and bathroom. Four of the flats are designed for disabled persons. In addition there is a communal lounge with pool table, laundry room and kitchen for the use of tenants.

The building is of brick construction under a tiled roof.

Jim Joel Court is a sheltered scheme with a scheme manager and provides accommodation for retired stable staff or their widowed spouses from age 55; who have spent a lifetime in racing.
